Position Description:
This major sports league is seeking an attorney who will be responsible for providing legal counsel for trademark protection as well as handling certain litigation-related, corporate and business matters. ** Trademark experience is mandatory**
Responsibilities will include:
Draft cease and desist letters and other correspondence relating to infringement of intellectual property matters and negotiate/follow up on resolution of these matters.
Negotiate and draft settlement and other agreements.
Work closely with the Company and other professional sports leagues on infringements issues in which there are overlapping interests.
Handle and/or supervise the implementation of anti-counterfeiting measures
Assist with business, legal and/or administrative projects.
Prepare demand letters and generally oversee collection procedures and bankruptcy matters for national and international licensees.
Draft correspondence and oversee document production for litigation matters. Work with counsel on strategy.
Prepare memoranda relating to legal policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:
College and JD degrees required
Member of the Bar of the State of New York
2 – 4 years of relevant Law Firm experience; Familiarity with Trademark practice preferred;
Strong legal research and writing skills; Strong communication, interpersonal and management skills;
Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Proficiency with Lexis/Nexis, Saegis, USPTO and Dun & Bradstreet databases and Internet research techniques

The league sets official rules, regulates team ownership, and collects licensing fees for merchandise. It also sells national broadcasting rights and distributes fees to the teams. (Regional broadcast rights are held by each franchise.) The league was formed in 1903 when two rival Leagues joined together.

GUARANTEED BONUS
Placement Bonus
Lateral Link typically provides a placement bonus to Members who are placed in full-time law firm positions. In most instances, the bonus amount will equal:
(a) $10,000 for positions with a base salary greater than $160,000; or
(b) $5,000 for positions with a base salary of $160,000 or less.
Although we assist all Members with a career transition, Lateral Link does not provide a placement bonus for boutique law firm, in-house counsel, government or non-profit placements. Additionally, we are unable to offer a signing bonus for some law firm positions in certain instances, given the arrangement with the employer; we appreciate your understanding in advance. Please confirm with your search consultant as to whether a specific position qualifies for a placement bonus.
A placement bonus is paid after Lateral Link fully earns its fee from the law firm, which is subject to Lateral Link’s agreement with each employer. Lateral Link offers a graduated referral fee for each attorney referred to us who is not
