The Counsel will develop, communicate and implement effective regulatory communication to advance Company’s growing, complex, exciting and progressive business agenda before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ("FERC"). The Counsel will have primary responsibility for executing Company’s regulatory strategies; manage outside legal resources and non-lawyer professionals and engage in hands-on regulatory practice before FERC; assist the General Counsel and executive management in formulating Company's regulatory strategies; and, with the General Counsel, will counsel business managers, executive management and the Company board on regulatory developments.
Specific duties and responsibilities will be:
Analyzing, interpreting, advising and providing recommendations on legal matters involving the Company.
Responsible for formal advocacy before FERC; custodian of all formal communications made to FERC
Drafting, editing and electronic filing of certain Company pleadings, including interventions, comments to NOPRs, comments and compliance filings on discrete matters
Direct and manage outside counsel on the drafting of other Company pleadings; direct and manage outside counsel in discovery and hearing phases of adversarial Commission proceedings.
Organize the argument and approach with outside counsel of pleadings in more substantial and/or adversarial FERC proceedings
Review, edit and revise draft pleadings prepared by outside counsel
Collect input and comment on draft pleadings (including those prepared by outside counsel) directly from business clients and either incorporating them into the drafts or coordinating an organized response back to outside counsel for incorporation into the drafts
Appear as counsel of record on Company matters before FERC; (i) coordinate responses to discovery requests when received by Company and the propounding of discovery on its behalf
Attend FERC hearings, settlement conferences, open meetings, technical conferences, etc.
Monitor and keep up with FERC decision making in other areas that might impact Company business
Responsible for coordinating litigation proceedings in local, state and federal courts involving the Company
Act as the liaison on regulatory and legal issues with Company stakeholders
Counsel and advise management and staff on tariff compliance and other regulatory issues
Participate in discussions to develop policies affecting the Company, and provide legal advice and interpretations of Company’s tariff and other governing documents
Quickly develop sensitivity to varied business and operational interests and ability to apply substantive knowledge of applicable law and seasoned legal judgment to promote objectives of in-house client base.

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, with related experience and/or training; 4 plus years of related work experience, which should include an in-depth knowledge of skills required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities
Demonstrated supervisory experience in a similar capacity; and extensive administrative litigation experience before FERC
Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and must be able to be admitted to the State Bar of Pennsylvania
Strong verbal and written communication; strong analytical, legal problem solving abilities; ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously, while managing tight time deadlines
Demonstrated experience with FERC practice and procedure; demonstrated ability to prepare organized, succinct and persuasive regulatory filings; and working knowledge of computer assisted skills such as using electronic legal research, email, remote site access, Microsoft Word, etc.
Deep and broad understanding of the complex technical aspects of the electricity markets, including transmission, grid operations and ISO energy, capacity and FTR markets; and specific knowledge and understanding of ISO/RTO market rules, including experience working with an ISO/RTO's Open Access Transmission Tariff and other governing documentation.

GUARANTEED BONUS
Placement Bonus
Lateral Link typically provides a placement bonus to Members who are placed in full-time law firm positions. In most instances, the bonus amount will equal:
(a) $10,000 for positions with a base salary greater than $160,000; or
(b) $5,000 for positions with a base salary of $160,000 or less.
Although we assist all Members with a career transition, Lateral Link does not provide a placement bonus for boutique law firm, in-house counsel, government or non-profit placements. Additionally, we are unable to offer a signing bonus for some law firm positions in certain instances, given the arrangement with the employer; we appreciate your understanding in advance. Please confirm with your search consultant as to whether a specific position qualifies for a placement bonus.
A placement bonus is paid after Lateral Link fully earns its fee from the law firm, which is subject to Lateral Link’s agreement with each employer.
